Fuel Your Good Summit FAQs

What is the Fuel Your Good Summit?

The Fuel Your Good Summit is a brand-new and exciting four-day event presented by GENYOUth that will convene young, passionate change makers from across the country and teach them how to raise and use their voices to work toward a more sustainable future.

The event will consist of students from a variety of GENYOUth’s channels, including Fuel Up to Play 60, The AdCap Challenge, winners of the Fuel Your Good Campaign, and others from youth organization partners. This accomplished group of students will be given the opportunity to learn from the best in a variety of industries and hone their ability to inspire others to do good and make a difference around topics important to them, including the environment/planet, nutrition and wellness, media, and food insecurity.

When and where is the Fuel Your Good Summit?

Once the application is submitted, the Fuel Your Good Summit Team will review and notify students if they have been selected, and if they will receive a scholarship to attend the event (notifications will deploy before the end of April). If a student does not receive an email application but is eligible based on the criteria, they may send an email to Summit@FuelUpToPlay60.comto request an application.

If I am a Fuel Up to Play 60 student who attended a past Student Ambassador Summit, what do I need to know to apply for this event?

Any Fuel Up to Play 60 student who meets the eligibility requirements below will be able to complete an application, regardless of whether or not they have been a State Ambassador or attended any past Fuel Up to Play 60 Summits:

  • Students must be at least 11 years old by July 1, 2020.
  • Students must be entering at least 6th grade in the 2020 – 2021 school year.
  • Students must have achieved at least Level Three on their Fuel Up to Play 60 Student Dashboard before the application closes on April 22, 2020.

What are students who attend the Fuel Your Good Summit Committing to, outside of attending the event?

The Fuel Your Good Summit is an intense (but fun!) multi-day experience that is intended to give students valuable skills that they are required to put into action and report back on when they head back home. If you attend, you are required to complete an action plan that you will create at the event, and to report back to the Fuel Your Good Summit Team throughout the 2020 – 2021 school year. You and your parents will be required to sign off on this commitment.

Why are there age requirements to attend the Fuel Your Good Summit?

This event is going to be a lot of fun but it will also be an intense experience that requires a high level of maturity and independence, as well as the ability to participate in lengthy sessions; plus, there are requirements in the following school year that lend themselves to an older student audience. Unfortunately, we can’t make any exceptions to these requirements.

Can an educator attend the Fuel Your Good Summit?

The Fuel Your Good Summit is a youth event, so educators will not be invited to attend. However, the Fuel Your Good Summit Team will provide resources and support to educators with students who attend the event so that they can continue to support their students in the following school year. There will be a select group of eligible educators who will attend the event as chaperones those educators will receive an invitation directly from the Fuel Your Good Summit Team.

Why is this a student-only event?

Youth have become a powerful voice, and this pilot event is designed to rally and inspire youth attendees, bringing them together with real-life change-makers (including business leaders, influencers, professional athletes and more), with a focus on elevating their voice. As we've seen from a decade of hosting national events with youth attendees from across the country, kids want to have a say in their future and with this new event, we'll evolve our programming, maximize our time with these champions and help them organize to drive change and tell a broader story outside of the walls of the event.

How can I support my student(s) who attend(s) the Fuel Your Good Summit if I am not there

Your student(s) will create an action plan at the event that they are accountable for executing during the following school year, which will include ways in which they will work with you and any other students from your school. The Fuel Your Good Summit Team will also be in contact with you in advance of the event with specifics on how best to prepare your student(s), and what you can expect from them after.

Can a parent or guardian attend the Fuel Your Good Summit?

Parents/guardians are not invited to attend the Fuel Your Good Summit, as it is a youth-focused event. Any parents who are dropping off and picking up their children at the event will not be permitted to attend any sessions, and will be expected to depart once their child is checked in with the Fuel Your Good Summit Team. Please email Summit@FuelUpToPlay60.com with any specific concerns or questions.
