Do you have any rituals for game day?
I have to do a full lap around the field. It’s my way of understanding my surroundings. It’s more of a mental thing for me.
Do you get a chance to talk to a friend on the opposing side before/during/after the game?
I talk to my friends before and after games. During the game it’s all business.
Who is the first person to send you a congratulatory text when your team wins a game?
My mom. She’s been my biggest fan since birth, so she is always there when we win but always the first one to check up on me when we lose.

You've spoken in the past about your mother's catering business. What is it about her career that is so special to you?
Just everything. She always makes sure we have what we want. She puts us first before she puts herself. It's special to me because I've seen her from when she didn't have it started and now, she has it.
What is your favorite dairy food during the off-season?
My mom is a caterer. She can make anything and everything. One of my favorites is mac and cheese.
How do you stay in shape in the off-season?
Biking, running, jogging, walking. Just doing the little things that matter in the off season.
Mekhi's team:

Do you get a chance to talk to a friend on the opposing side before/during/after a game?
Yes, I always try and talk to friends mostly after the games. That is what is so great about sports. It forges friendships and bonds that last a lifetime. Even after competing all day, we are all in this together.
Do you get nervous before a game? And how do you calm any pre-game jitters?
I get a little nervous, but it makes me know that I’m ready to go. The butterflies in your stomach are a good thing. You know you worked hard during the week and you are prepared to have a good game.
Who is the first person to send you a congratulatory text when your team wins a game?
I call my wife first after games so I can visit with her and my daughter. They are my biggest fans.

Do you have a game day superstition? And if so, what is it?
I eat the exact same foods for pregame meals. I listen to the same songs on the way to the stadium and while I put on my uniform. I put on my uniform the exact same way. I always say a prayer before the game and at halftime.
What do you want kids to know about staying healthy and active over summer break or during remote learning?
It’s important to have healthy habits all the time. Eating healthy and being active over summer break or during remote learning means you’ll be in good shape to go out and play at any and all times, and will help you be at your best if you play sports.
Do you get a chance to talk to a friend on the opposing side before/during/after a game?
If I have friends (usually former teammates) on the other team, typically I’ll just say hey and wish them good luck before the game, then go back and have a chat with them before they head to the locker room after the game.

What do you want kids to know about staying healthy and active over summer break or during remote learning?
An active and healthy body leads to an active and healthy mind! Get outside and play! Get creative! Break a sweat. Challenge yourself. All of that helps you be the best overall “you” that you can possibly be physically, mentally and emotionally!
Who is the first person to send you a congratulatory text when your team wins a game?
That’s easy, my wife. Family is the most important thing in the world to me beside my faith so sharing those good (and not so good) times with her is always my first instinct and keeps me both grounded and positive.
Will you share your favorite recipe to make at home?
I like cooking many things, but lately I have really enjoyed making homemade ice cream which with the right ingredients can be really healthy.

Cheese! I can eat it on everything.
Do you have any Gameday superstitions?
I’m superstitious about time management before a game. I try to do everything at the same time (what time I shower, what time I get in the hot tub, all the way to what time I put on my cleats).

Aside from the NFL your dream job would be?
Probably sports psychologist. I just like to figure out what goes on in people's minds when they're having droughts or things like that when it comes to sports.
What activities do you like to do in the offseason?
I like to play basketball. Off the field I like to just chill and watch T.V.
Best advice you've ever received and would give to kids chasing their dreams?
Just to stay humble and to never give up. I've gone through a lot of adversity, so just to keep my head on the right path and keep moving forward.

I always have a conversation with the other specialists. I will also look for former teammates and young guys who went to the University of Colorado.
Do you have any Gameday superstition? And if so, what is it?
I have a process I go through every game day. I walk the field and get a feel for the wind and field conditions. I like to take everything in and find a peace in all of the build up.
Who is the first person to send you a congratulatory text when your team wins a game?

I was born here, so when I got the chance to come back I was thrilled. Being around my family, aunts and uncles and everyone was very important to me.
Who is the most influential person in your life?
My mom. I appreciate everything she's done for me and she always puts the family first.
What is a quote or piece of advice that has inspired you?
'One man's ceiling is another man's floor.' It pushes me and puts me in the right mind because I'm not gauging myself on other people, I'm gauging myself on what I do. It keeps me hungry and keeps me humble.

How do you stay in shape in the off-season?
I normally take about 2 to 3 weeks completely off to get some much needed rest after a long season. I start working out the end of February (Monday-Friday).
What is your favorite dairy food during the off-season? Is it different than during football season?
Yogurt. I use that in the mornings and sometimes in my shakes at night! (During my 2 week break from working out after the season it is definitely ice cream!!)
What do you want kids to know about staying healthy and active over summer break or during remote learning?
I want the kids to stay safe but have fun and go be kids! Enjoy your friends and be active! Drink lots of milk like I did. And some ice cream never hurt!
Hayden's team:

“The Fuel Up to Play 60 program helped increase student's consumption of milk, yogurt, and cheese in various ways such as: promoting milk through cooking classes, family fitness events, milk mustache booths, ‘rethink your drink’ promotions, exposure to dairy in different forms such as grab and go smoothies. The equipment allowed us to provide snacks and grab and go items while stressing the importance of dairy in a healthy lifestyle."

What is your Gameday ritual?
I don’t have a crazy one, but my music choices start with rap at the beginning of the day. Before I go out for warmups, I switch to heavy metal.
Who is the first person to send you a congratulatory text when your team wins a game?
The first person to send me a text would for sure have to be my mom.

Do you get a chance to talk to a friend on the opposing side before/during/after a game?
Before the game I talk to some friends about trading jerseys and how each other’s life is going. It’s always a competitive match during the game, but we might talk or joke around. After the game we talk about impact plays that took place throughout the game, check on each other’s health, and just about life outside of football. Then we’d swap jerseys and wish each other good luck the rest of the season.
Do you get nervous before a game? And how do you calm any pre-game jitters?
I always have that exciting nervousness going on before the game. Just gearing up and ready to play the sport I love. To calm my nerves I go over my plays and what my assignments are on certain ones. I go over the opposing defense and their playmakers.
What is your Gameday ritual?
As we come out of the tunnel as a team, I run to the opposite side end zone, get on a knee and thank God for everything he’s done for me. I also pray that both teams come out of the game safe and injury free.

What is your Gameday ritual?
It starts with 4 pieces of toast, peanut butter, bananas and honey. I get to the stadium and get in the hot tub to warm my legs up. I have the same stretching and warm up routine to get my body ready to punt.  While I am warming up, I listen to worship music to get my mind relaxed and focused.
Do you have any Gameday superstition? And if so, what is it?
I don’t have any game day superstitions. I try to be consistent every week in following my routine, from what I eat for breakfast, to how I warm up to the music I listen to!
Who is the first person to send you a congratulatory text when your team wins a game?
Depends on if it’s a home or road game. On road games, my wife is the first person.  Home games I get to see my wife in the home parking lot afterwards. After a home game, it's usually my mom or dad!

What is your Gameday ritual?
I don’t usually eat breakfast at the facility. For home games, I drive home and my wife makes me a bagel and orange. For away games, I text her and my parents right before I play, thanking them for all that they have done for me.
Do you have any Gameday superstition? And if so, what is it?
It’s a little wacky and my teammates give me a hard time. Unless my socks get torn, I try to keep the same pair for every game rather than wear a new one from week to week. Of course, I wash them but they get a little dirty towards the end of the season.
Who is the first person to send you a congratulatory text when your team wins a game?

What is your Gameday ritual?
My gameday ritual is simple, but it works the best for me. I wake up, eat breakfast, relax a little, listen to music to get me in the zone and stretch a lot. All of that is part of my process to get me fully ready for the game.
What is your favorite dairy food during the off-season?
My favorite dairy food is chocolate ice cream! That's my #1 for both the off-season and regular season.
Do you get nervous before a game? And how do you calm any pre-game jitters?
Yes I do. I calm the jitters by really getting into my music so I can get into the right mental space to go out there and perform.

What inspired you to create your outreach program?
I didn't really get dental care until I got into the league...that made me realize how much it means for our health and confidence. A lot of people don't realize that things like tooth pain aren't normal, which is why it is important that we help give kids the access to the care they need and teach them habits they can use for life.
What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Oh man! I have to say cookie dough. That's the best flavor, it's fire!
What fruits vegetables would you recommend?
I like all kinds of fruits so that's hard. I'd have to go with watermelon, that's my go-to. For veggies, I'll always enjoy some asparagus.

Who is the first person to send you a congratulatory text when your team wins a game?
My parents. They watch every game. I don’t think they’ve missed a game since I’ve been playing at the age of 6 to be honest. Then I’ll always get texts from my high school and college best friends. Win or lose, they’ll always text me.
Do you get nervous before a game? And how do you calm any pre-game jitters?
I wouldn’t say I get nervous. I feel like I prepare myself enough to go out and have fun and know what it is I need to do. I always have butterflies before the game though. For me, that’s my body’s way of saying ‘You get to go out with your brothers and play the game you love… how amazing is that".

What is your favorite dairy food during the off-season? Is it different than during football season?
Milk! I go through about 2 gallons a week whether it be in season or off-season. A glass of milk at night with cookies is my go-to. It's a great night time meal.
What is different about your eating habits in the off-season vs. during football season?
I would say as an offensive lineman I am very aware of what I eat. I eat about 4 meals a day whether it be in season or in the off-season. High protein and carbs to help recover from workouts and to keep weight on. Wings are my favorite food and cookies and milk are my favorite dessert.
What do you want kids to know about staying healthy and active over summer break or during remote learning?
The phrase 'you are what you eat' is so true and you learn even more so when your career relies on your body being in peak performance. A healthy lifestyle, eating and actively working out, isn't only good for you physically but mentally. It gives your body endorphins, helps your body stay clean, and it just makes you feel better all around.

In 2009, my cousin, Michael Williams, father to a daughter Madison, was a firefighter in my hometown of Coppell when he was diagnosed with multimyloma. Instead of being overwhelmed by the disease, he took the worst news possible and turned it outward spreading awareness and raising money for firefighters with cancer by starting Michael’s Memories. His vision, that started with the thought of getting one last vacation with his daughter, turned into an organization that has helped firefighters escape from cancer and enjoy their fleeting time in the best way possible. After a 10 year battle, Michael passed in 2019 due to his cancer. But his legacy lives on in Michael’s Memories and through each of the firefighters he supports through their fight with cancer. #mycausemycleats
