Do you have any rituals for game day?
I have to do a full lap around the field. It’s my way of understanding my surroundings. It’s more of a mental thing for me.
Do you get a chance to talk to a friend on the opposing side before/during/after the game?
I talk to my friends before and after games. During the game it’s all business.
Who is the first person to send you a congratulatory text when your team wins a game?
My mom. She’s been my biggest fan since birth, so she is always there when we win but always the first one to check up on me when we lose.

Do you get a chance to talk to a friend on the opposing side before/during/after a game?
Yes, I always try and talk to friends mostly after the games. That is what is so great about sports. It forges friendships and bonds that last a lifetime. Even after competing all day, we are all in this together.
Do you get nervous before a game? And how do you calm any pre-game jitters?
I get a little nervous, but it makes me know that I’m ready to go. The butterflies in your stomach are a good thing. You know you worked hard during the week and you are prepared to have a good game.
Who is the first person to send you a congratulatory text when your team wins a game?
I call my wife first after games so I can visit with her and my daughter. They are my biggest fans.

What do you want kids to know about staying healthy and active over summer break or during remote learning?
An active and healthy body leads to an active and healthy mind! Get outside and play! Get creative! Break a sweat. Challenge yourself. All of that helps you be the best overall “you” that you can possibly be physically, mentally and emotionally!
Who is the first person to send you a congratulatory text when your team wins a game?
That’s easy, my wife. Family is the most important thing in the world to me beside my faith so sharing those good (and not so good) times with her is always my first instinct and keeps me both grounded and positive.
Will you share your favorite recipe to make at home?
I like cooking many things, but lately I have really enjoyed making homemade ice cream which with the right ingredients can be really healthy.

My mom. I appreciate everything she's done for me and she always puts the family first.
What is a quote or piece of advice that has inspired you?

How do you stay in shape in the off-season?
I normally take about 2 to 3 weeks completely off to get some much needed rest after a long season. I start working out the end of February (Monday-Friday).
What is your favorite dairy food during the off-season? Is it different than during football season?
Yogurt. I use that in the mornings and sometimes in my shakes at night! (During my 2 week break from working out after the season it is definitely ice cream!!)
What do you want kids to know about staying healthy and active over summer break or during remote learning?
I want the kids to stay safe but have fun and go be kids! Enjoy your friends and be active! Drink lots of milk like I did. And some ice cream never hurt!
Hayden's team:

“The Fuel Up to Play 60 program helped increase student's consumption of milk, yogurt, and cheese in various ways such as: promoting milk through cooking classes, family fitness events, milk mustache booths, ‘rethink your drink’ promotions, exposure to dairy in different forms such as grab and go smoothies. The equipment allowed us to provide snacks and grab and go items while stressing the importance of dairy in a healthy lifestyle."

Walking out under the tunnel and knowing you prepared the whole week for gameday.
What's a skill you have other than football?
I'd probably say I'm funny. If you hang around me a lot, I could make light out of any situation and try to brighten people's day.
If you weren't a football player, what would you be?

Do you get nervous before a game? And how do you calm any pre-game jitters?
Yes I get nervous and I think it’s a good thing. It means you care and are excited. It’s football and it’s a game at the end of the day.

I didn't really get dental care until I got into the league...that made me realize how much it means for our health and confidence. A lot of people don't realize that things like tooth pain aren't normal, which is why it is important that we help give kids the access to the care they need and teach them habits they can use for life.
What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
Oh man! I have to say cookie dough. That's the best flavor, it's fire!
