"100 Mile Challenge" at Spring Valley Elementary

Our goal for the "100 Mile Challenge" is to provide students with the opportunity to run/walk 100 miles at school in a single school year to improve the health and wellbeing of our students. It is also for students to set goals and achieve at their own pace. Students chart their laps on their classroom chart and at the end of two weeks we convert their laps into miles. On our course, nine laps equals one mile. Some of the classes are converting their miles as a math activity. It is great to see students and staff enjoying the "100 Mile Challenge Course."

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

The students and staff have worked hard together to design a fun, safe, and well-managed process for our "100 Mile Challenge." This is an easy process that we will be able to continue from year to year.
