Those who wish to participate in the 100 Mile Club have the opportunity to reach 100 miles by the end of the school year. We already have 6 individuals who have reached 100 miles. With this being a voluntary program, we have 85% of our students participating in the 100 Mile Club. Over half of these students have already reached 50+ miles. We give the students opportunities to run at 5K events we host, after school programs, PE and recess. Now that we have put in a beautiful fitness trail, our students have the opportunity to run everyday during recess, even when we have snow on the ground:) We are very excited about this program and love seeing the large number of students who participate in it.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Since we have started this program, I have seen in a large increase in numbers of students who participate. Mostly because the availability of the fitness trail, as well as the incentives of receiving a shoe charm for each 25 miles earned. When we are in PE, the kids will always ask if the running we do counts for the 100 Mile Club. The kids are very eager and determined to reach the 100 mile goal.
