11th Annual Crepe Myrtle Trails of McKinney Fun Run

The Crepe Myrtle Trails of McKinney and McKinney ISD work together to promote their annual fun run to raise money to keep McKinney beautiful with crepe myrtle trees as well as giving back to our physical education programs.

How did you accomplish your goals?

The Crepe Myrtle Trails of McKinney and PE teachers of McKinney help promote this event to our community and hope to raise funds for both programs and to create fun activities for our community families.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

This was the 11th annual run so improvements that I've seen over the past several years involve creating a fun environment for all. For example: local vendors are invited to share and promote buisness and fun opportunities in our community. We have things like facepaint, petting zoo, bounce house, performance courses, and offer post run water bottles and bananas. The school who has the most family involvement their principal or coach also has to kiss a pig at the end of the event.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

The biggest challenge our school faces is the cost of participating in this run although $5 and each registered member under our school's name does come back to our PE programs.
