I am excited to share that our school raised over $20,000 for our Jump Rope for Heart event. As part of that event, I created our 1st Annual "Jump Off" for our 480 scholars to showcase their skills with flashing lights and cameras! Some scholars had never learned to jump rope before. By the end of the event, close to 100 scholars had learned to jump rope successfully for the first time! Third, fourth, and fifth grade scholars had choreographed and performed jump rope routines to music of their choice in front of an audience. One 2nd grade scholar went from being able to jump rope 3-5 times consecutively to being able to jump rope 310 times without stopping. They also got their families involved and started family jump time and healthier eating choices. I am so proud of our scholars for setting goals and achieving them in a "Lights, Camera, Action" fashion!

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

Scholars are encouraged to jump rope as a form of fun exercise. They do it during recess and after school. They also continue to share stories of them having jump rope time with their families and improving their heart health. I also plan to hold the "Jump Off" event every year. I have shared this with my scholars so that they can plan ahead with routines and get excited about the event in advance.
