21 Day Challenge 2017

We are participating in the 21 Day Challenge again this year. We have had better participation this year which involved the parents signing their child up for the program. We focused on eating a healthy snack for 21 days to develop healthy habits. We encouraged families and teachers to take the challenge and record their snacks for 21 days. We had about 50% of our students sign up to take the challenge. The snacks had to be a fruit or a vegetable and under 200 calories. Some of our students loved to prepare their own snack which leads to better success for sticking with the challenge when the 21 days are over.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

We had better participation this year than last year. The kids are excited to share their favorite snack or recipe from the recipe book that we provided. We discussed how to read a label to find out how nutritious popular snacks really are. We are seeing more kids that talk about how they are already in the habit of eating a healthy snack before we started this program.
