2nd Annual 5 Star 5K Run/Walk

On April 16, 2016, our school Omar Bradley Elementary hosted our 2nd Annual 5 Star 5K Run/Walk. This event is to raise funds for any end of the year awards or events. This year we used the funds to help with Field Day. We had quite a turnout and everyone enjoyed themselves. At the event we also had a couple of vendors come out and give away some free goodies to all our participants at the end of the race. Next year our event will be bigger and better, can't wait.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

I've noticed that parent involvement has improved throughout this school year. Parents have been very excited with all the events that happened this year and were very supportive.

How did you accomplish your goals?

As a faculty we kept a line of communication open with the parents by making phone calls, sending out memos, making all calls and hanging up flyers.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

The only obstacle we faced this year with our event, was the weather and it being so cold and windy. We were thinking as a committee that next year we would possibly push it back at a later time or even having two different types of 5K races throughout the school year.
