2nd Annual Drink the Pink Milk Mustache Campaign at Carman Elementary

During the month of October, our district brought awareness of cancer to our students in many ways, such as having survivors talk to the students, learning about the different types of cancer and by wearing pink. With the help of the Child Nutrition department, our school celebrated our 2nd Annual Drink the Pink Milk Mustache Campaign to bring awareness of cancer and to kick off the Fuel Up to Play 60 Program. During this event,  the whole school had the opportunity to taste different types of yogurts, flavored milks, fruits and vegetables during lunch time. Fuel up to Play 60 student ambassador candidates helped by passing out healthy yogurt parfaits made from dairy, fruits and granola. They also took pictures, gave out stickers and helped students make milk mustaches.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Student ambassadors had the opportunity to help during the event by passing out yogurts, fruits, vegetables, helping with the milk mustaches and taking pictures. Our students played a vital role not only by helping during the event but by showing the whole school that anybody can take the pledge to eat healthy, stay active and make a difference and at the same time bring awareness of cancer.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

With the help of our district Child Nutrition Department, we will be hosting this event every year. This event will not only be used to kick off the Fuel Up to Play 60 at our school but to bring awareness of cancer and promote healthy eating and physical activity. We will be having different milk mustache events to encourage student to drink more milk.
