Students were challenged to continue to track their food using MyPlate or MyFitnessPal after they completed their dietary assessment assignments in Nutrition and Wellness class. Of those who continued, A took meticulous records and continued to work towards her nutrition goals.
How did students and adults work together as a team?
The teacher showed students what technology was available to track their food intake and checked their trackers weekly, answered any questions, and showed them examples of serving sizes.
How did you accomplish your goals?
Students first assessed how many calories and how many grams of macro nutrients they needed daily. All students worked towards their goal of meeting their Total Daily Energy Expenditure throughout the month.
How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?
We input ingredients into MyFitnessPal and ChooseMyPlate with our recipes from Nutrition and Wellness classes to continue teaching students about nutrients in the foods they are eating and students evaluate the information with each lab.
