We celebrated our 4th Annual Drink the Pink at our campus during the month of October to promote cancer awareness by drinking more pink milk and to Kick Off our Fuel Up to Play 60 program. With the help of Child Nutrition, the District Chef and our Administration, we were able to reach out to every student with the message of eating healthy, staying active and drinking more milk.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

With the help of our District Chef, we were able to work on the Dallas Cowboys Yogurt’s Got Game Recipe Contest. Students were able to come up with their own ideas on what ingredients to use and with the help of the Child Nutrition Department and our Chef, we were able to make enough yogurt parfaits for every student during the Drink the Pink Celebration. Child Nutrition make this event possible by working side by side with our students and empowering them to stay active and eat healthy.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Since we started the Drink the Pink Celebration four years ago, we have noticed students looking forward to it. They already know what it means and why we wear pink. I feel it’s a win-win situation for our school to be able to work with the Child Nutrition Department, the students and the administration and at the same time promoting drinking more pink milk and using this event to as our Kick Off for the Fuel Up to Play 60 program and to bring awareness of cancer.
