Physical Activity Participation

All of our teachers are trained in Tai-Chi. Students have reported an increased attention span and better relaxation when practicing Tai-Chi. For those who prefer to be more active, we offer Mighty Milers and Achilles Kids Running Program. When the students know it's time to run, they hurry and conscientiously complete their academic activities. Other teachers incorporate Go-Noodles throughout the day when the students need a break. With the success of these programs, teachers have the inspiration to do more, and so... they have committed to train in the NYC Let's Move Program. By June 2016 we will have 85% of our teachers providing fitness breaks through Active Schools. With all of these choices, none of our students will be left behind of 60 minutes of physical activity per day provided by their committed teachers.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Students come to school more prepared for the academic vigor as they know that they will have time during the day to recharge and learn more.
