Access to Healthy Foods

For five days our school celebrated fruits by wearing a specific color each day, learning about fruit of that color, trying different fruit all week, and playing fruit games in the gym.

How did you accomplish your goals?

We encouraged all staff and students to wear the assigned color each day to help them learn more about fruits of that specific color. Each morning, teachers talked about that day's fruit and how it helps the body.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

During lunch time, special guests walked around to ask students about fruit and to give stickers to students eating fruit.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

We coordinated with Food Services so all hot lunches had appropriate fruit for students to see and try.
