A Change in Mindset
Fuel Up to Play 60 has been a great experience for me as an advisor. The program has made me more aware of making healthier eating choices for not only myself but also for my daughter. As a family, I try to incorporate healthier snacks into our day. Our meals also consist of more foods from MyPlate. FUTP 60 has allowed me to encourage my family to eat better and given us different options for overall healthier foods. Not only have we learned about better eating choices but we have also learned how they affect our overall health. FUTP 60 has led me to try new things and get more involved with school activities, and has given me the opportunity to assist in various experiences at school with different students as well. Several activities that I have participated in as an advisor are saving the wrapped food from breakfast to use as a snacks for later in the day, as well as brain break for my students. The students really enjoy taking a brain break and getting some exercise during their day! FUTP 60 has also made me think about different sports over the last few years. Being active is a struggle some days; however, I have learned different activities that I can do in a short amount of time that really get my heart pumping. I am able to share these activities with my family and my class. FUTP 60 has made a positive impact on my life and I enjoy sharing my story with others! -Diana Brode, Advisor, Mispillion Elementary School

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Our students surveyed teachers for times they could visit their classrooms to lead an in-class activity break. The sessions got kids excited and inspired some students to organize their own in-class activity break. Advisors and student leaders met to discuss what went well and ways to improve in the future.
