Fuel Up to Play 60 has done so much for our students. With just sharing FUTP 60 tips with my health class, it helped spread so much awareness throughout our campus. Our students have become more involved with what they consume, and not only what they consume but portion-wise. As a health teacher, we already talk about healthy eating and being active, but this program helps boost the morale. We had a challenge going to see who ate school breakfast and checked into my room before school, who followed the meal plan they created and who clocked 45 minutes of physical activity every day. Fuel Up to Play 60 was a huge motivator for my students and myself!

How did students and adults work together as a team?

I feel that as an adult, you have to lead by example. My students seem to be more motivated if they see me participating as well. We all joined in together, made and followed meal plans and often had times where we took breaks within classes and whet outside or to the gym to get some physical activity!

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

This was very new to our community and school. Often times when something is new and not the norm, students are hesitant. This goes back to teamwork and leading by example, which helped them open up.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

My students are more conscious about what they eat and how they eat. They now take pride in eating healthy and making body-positive choices.
