Activity Break Challenge

Each student was given the opportunity to create a physical activity for a small group to participate in. Students were given time to research a fun activity that could be completed under 10 minutes. We narrowed down the students' activities by practicing them in class. We performed our favorite activity before a health test and compared the average test scores with the classes that did not do a physical activity. Our conclusion of our physical activity breaks consisted of higher test scores when an activity was performed before compared to no physical activity before the test.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

As a team we worked together to build strong activity breaks that would have max participation in a short amount of time. We brainstormed as a team and had a lot of fun along the way.

How did you accomplish your goals?

We accomplished our goal by improving our test scores and showing the importance of physical activity and cognitive development.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We plan on taking our first challenge and building upon it with all of our PE/Health teachers. We would like to also share our information with our staff and challenge them to try a list of activities in class.
