Our Fuel Up to Play 60 Team challenged our classroom teachers to incorporate more activity breaks into their classroom instruction one day. The teachers were required to record how long they did a particular activity, what the activity was, and then create a total of minutes spent doing extra activity. The winning class received an extra long PE with their entire grade level. This also rewarded teachers by giving them a longer planning break that day.
What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
Some teachers were hesitant to create extra breaks in their classroom. Our FUTP 60 Team provided them with a list of resources of activities and I provided them with data that shows how physical activity has a positive influence on learning.
