The students planned and hosted a dodgeball tournament for their peers. They talked with staff members to help chaperone, made announcements and a video to get students motivated to participate. The students also followed through on the jobs that they took to help the event go off as a hit. They had roughly 150 students at the event, and out of those 150 students, 90 of them participated in the tournament. The students enjoyed the event and asked us to host another. They are now planning a volleyball tournament here in March.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The students had to reach out to teachers and ask them to make up a team to play against the winning team. Also, they had to ask the teachers to chaperone after their contract hours.

How did you accomplish your goals?

We had 150 students there at the event. We were hoping for 100, but got 90 to JUST participate. That was huge to see all those students coming to support our event.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

We need to have a plan together if we get done early. We had to think on the fly this time, but the next event we do must have a back-up plan to fill in the extra time. We need to keep the students moving and make sure everyone can participate in that extra time event.
