Physical Activity Participation

We have a group of kids who meet after school and we play basketball, soccer, football, volleyball, etc. Whatever they want to play to be active, we do it! If it's nice, we go outside and if not, we are in the gym! It's a great time for them to just play and run and move instead of going home to the couch!

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

The weather and basketball season were the biggest challenges. Once basketball season started, we did not have access to the gym. We were able to play outside for a while but then the weather got too cold. We were able to do some fitness workouts for a few weeks and then it seemed like basketball was over and we had the gym again.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

I would like to open this up to morning hours, allowing kids who want to exercise or play with friends the opportunity to do that, instead of sitting in the little theater before school starts.
