Success with Funds

Our Program Advisors, Mrs. S, Mrs. R and Nurse O submitted a request for Funds over the summer to help provide a healthy snack for our second annual AG Day. On this day, area farmers bring in produce, machinery, and livestock to teach the kids how they provide food for others. The FUTP 60 healthy snack station provided the kids with good, healthy quality snacks and a lesson about the importance of healthy foods. It really tied together where there food comes from and how important our local agriculture is.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

They were able to purchase items that will be used at several events throughout the year. The advisors plan monthly FUTP 60 Family Fitness Nights and they will be able to use most of these items again for those events.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

I have seen a huge improvement in the awareness and understanding of health and nutrition at Riverdale Elementary. Kids are more active and taking advantage of Family Fitness Nights.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

The only challenge to our snack station was funding. We don't have extra money to spend on things like snacks. The only way we were able to provide this was through the funding from FUTP 60.
