Physical Activity Participation

The entire school (grades K-5) came down to the gym for a 30-minute dance marathon this spring. Our student council came up with this idea to show school spirit and enjoyment of physical activity. A few teachers were up on stage dancing to popular line dances so that the students could follow along. The songs/dances were also chosen by students. For the last song, "What Does The Fox Say," we threw beach balls out to the crowd of students to strike back up into the air (the fox is our school mascot). It was a great time had by all!

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The adults asked for student input on how the school could come together to show school spirit. It was their idea to do this dance marathon and they submitted song/dance choices that needed to be approved for appropriateness by the program advisers. The adults arranged the time/place and communicated with classroom teachers to make sure everyone could attend.
