Almira Gators Students Using the Blender Bike
Every month, the Gators' students have the choice to come to our good food choices station to learn about healthy snacking and other health topics. Students know they will get to enjoy something tasty when they come such as fruit ice cream smoothie. When I heard about a blender bike, I knew it would be a hit for our entire school. It took a bit of work, but everyone thinks riding this bike and creating a healthy smoothie is a lot of fun.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

Students are excited to peddle knowing that their efforts will earn them a delicious and healthy snack. This week, students will be peddling this bike to make a healthy smoothie with milk, ice cream, frozen bananas and of course, chocolate. I think this will be used by students for years to come.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

To make our smoothie sampling morning possible, students and adults planned and coordinated the event to make sure everything ran smoothly. Our club members and I, as our club advisor, worked with our food staff to use their equipment and space. The students chose the smoothie flavor, created signs to promote our event, and carried out the different jobs required to make and hand out our samples.
