Aspire and inspire...100 miles and still running!

We were able to use the Funds awarded this year to purchase a scanning program called Stridetrack. This system has boosted our running program by making data collection and record keeping a pleasure instead of a difficult chore. The kids love getting "scanned" as they complete laps, and our mileage is up about 25% this year!

How did you accomplish your goals?

We were able to purchase an electronic scanning program for our running program this fall. The kids have a tag with their name, class, grade, and barcode that we can scan as they complete laps. Our K-3 kids have run over 4,000 miles so far this year.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

The tracking/scanning program we purchased makes it easier and more sustainable by simplifying the data collection. This equipment should last for several years, and because it's so easy to use, the parent volunteers are happy to help.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Our students are running more, they are running the mile faster with the majority of our students in the healthy fitness zone. The runners recognize and can articulate the importance of regular and sustained exercise through activity 60+ minutes per day.
