In our Afterschool Program, we have corn delivered from a farm and have the students get the opportunity to "shuck" the corn. This is a great opportunity to discuss how corn grows and gets from farm to table to tummies. Some students have never seen corn in its natural state or know what "shucking" actually is. The next day, the yummy buttered corn is cooked by staff and eaten by ravenous students in Afterschool !
