Banneker Marathon Kids 5 K Run
We had a 5K Run for Autism. Our school participated in a Marathon Kids Run for the community. Our families, friends and community came out to run and raise money for our three Autism classes in our building. It's wonderful to see our parents out and kids running in our community. It was a great event!

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Our Autism teachers and school Leadership Team planned the event. Our FUTP60 group and Marathon Kids Club were also involved. Some of them ran and some of them volunteered.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

Neighborhoods are not always safe so we posted adults around with cones to make sure everything ran safely.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

I hope we keep growing every year and involve more people. We had two runners. That is great for the first year.
