Be the BEST YOU in 2018 - School and Community Health Fair
During the 2017-2018 school year, Taos High School hosted their first annual “Be the BEST YOU in 2018" Health Fair. As part of our student Nutrition Advisory Council and recipients of the Fuel Up to Play 60 grant, students proposed a plan of action and brought together over thirty community agencies to share information about healthy eating, physical wellness and social and emotional resources. The Kick-Off event was a great success and one of many school-wide events the group experienced. Great tasting smoothies were incorporated into students' breakfast, lunch-time Yoga is currently offered, a walking path has been created, and inspirational quotes hang in our halls. As part of the Fuel Up to Play 60 program, we are inspired to share our vision and focus on nurturing healthy students in our district.

How did you accomplish your goals?

Our Kick-Off event was a great success and one of many school-wide events the group experienced. Great tasting smoothies were incorporated into student breakfasts, lunch-time Yoga is currently offered, a walking path has been created, and inspirational quotes hang in our halls. As part of the Fuel Up to Play 60 program, we are inspired to share our vision and focus on nurturing healthy students in our district.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Student leaders shine as they implement healthy eating, physical play, and nutrition into Taos High School. As the student nutrition advisory council and recipients of the FUEL UP TO PLAY 60 grant, students create a healthy learning environment where students and staff are offered healthy eating, physical and social/emotional supports. Our SNAC teamwork with their advisor, administration and student body to increase participation and program implementation throughout the school year.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

As part of the Fuel Up to Play 60 program, we are inspired to share our vision and focus on nurturing healthy students in our district. Our program vision is to create learning environments within our school district where students are encouraged to participate in making a difference in their school, at home and in their communities. With the support of our school and Program Advisors, we will achieve great success this year and in years to come! Thank you.
