The cafeteria managers and physical education teachers at Beaumont Middle teamed up to implement Fuel Up to Play 60. The breakfast participation was in need of a boost and the students were not logging enough minutes of physical activity each day. The PE teacher worked with the teachers to implement in-class activity breaks through the use of the Brain Breaks books, which were provided to all teachers, along with a professional development activity utilizing the book. Now, the students are enjoying a few minutes of activity during their classes throughout the school day. The PE teacher also facilitates intramurals during the morning before school. Now, the students are getting active before school and during school. The cafeteria manager is implementing new marketing strategies and new menu items to increase breakfast participation. The school is planning to launch grab and go breakfast at the entrance of the school in the near future. Breakfast participation has increased as a result of our new stratagies.
