Fitzgerald Physical Education students are exposed to many different activities that allow them to practice choosing nutritious foods. In one example, they are given "Go " food choices and and "Whoa" food choices. They then are invited to make their choice and move to the "Go Food" area. In the "Go Food" area they will follow activity instructions and reflect with their peers and their teacher on their thoughts and feelings. Fitz students also highlight healthy food choices by delivering food (pictures, images, other) to their correct food groups, or on plates to create a "healthy plate". Our students continue to enjoy improving their food and nutrition knowledge during class and sharing their learning with their peers.
How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?
The FUTP 60 student team will help promote their nutrition knowledge learned in PE to the school hallways for Open House via posters and art work.
What improvements have you seen at your school?
Students are making better choices regarding food and are showing positive interest in nutrition.
