Access to Healthy Foods

The Ambassadors at Blakewood Elementary searched for information on food coming from the farm to our school table. Each student had one piece of information to share with the school during our lunch hours. A Google Slide was up on the wall and the student presented their information. After the presentation, the students delivered Orange Dream-sickle Smoothies to those that wanted to try a sample. The smoothie was a BIG success! Three quarters of the student body tried the smoothie and then proudly wore the "I tired and liked it" sticker. Before all this happened, the students brought in their favorite smoothie and we taste tested each one. The Orange Smoothie won. The students also practiced their presentations before school so everything went really great!

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

The only challenge was that we only had one blender. It was a little bit of a learning curve to make enough to serve smoothies to the three different lunch hours. If we had two or more blenders, it would have been easier to have enough ready for the lunch hour. Also, we could then possibly offer two or more different smoothies as well.
