Community Involvement

My PE students at Gonzalez Elementary have recently formed two teams to go play volleyball in Mercedes, Texas. They will play in the age group of 6 to 10. The teams are coached by the parents of Gonzalez Elementary. They had their first practice yesterday and it was good to see the parents come in and help their child and the rest of the team.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

At the first practice I helped the parents form stations. Some help with serving, others help with setting, and the rest help with bumping.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

I plan to look for leagues and make my students aware with flyers going home to the parents.

How did you accomplish your goals?

I helped the parents run the first practice and gave them ideas on what they needed and how to run future practices.
