Bookin for Books
Our school held a "Bookin for Books" family event. Books were given instead of medals. Families did a 1 mile walk/run, received a healthy snack and then got to take a few new books home to read. Through collaboration with the PTO and community, we were able to get books and food for the event. Thank you FUTP 60 for the funds to buy the string cheese. We also served bananas, oranges, apples, popcorn and infused water.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Students made posters to advertise the event. Staff planned the event. Staff and students worked the event.

How did you accomplish your goals?

We planned to have an event that promoted physical activity, eating healthy and spending time with family. All goals were accomplished.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

We held the event the day after Halloween. Our numbers were lower than expected. We plan to do the event again near the beginning of the year next year. Our families loved the event.
