In-Class Physical Activity Breaks — Good For Mind and Body

Physical Activity Participation
Since we began utilizing Brain Breaks here at Freddy Gonzalez Elementary, our teachers have seen a significant change in the productivity and attention span in our students throughout the day. Our teachers feel that they are on the right track with these Brain Breaks, because they can see an actual change their student’s energy output in the classroom as well as retention of the information that is being read and given to them. If they are getting sluggish and sleepy, they perform a Brain Break, which can be a little game or a dance that will help the students get their heart rates up and get those endorphins running to wake them up and give them energy.

How did you accomplish your goals?

We accomplished our goal of infusing brain breaks in the classroom. Our student enjoyed the breaks and teachers saw a difference in attention and comprehension in the classroom.
