Brain Breaks at Hodge

Kim Crane,   Hodge Elementary School
Physical Activity Participation,  Student Leadership
We have successfully been using Brain Breaks throughout the day. The students love them and the teachers say it does help to give the students these short breaks.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Students and teachers have been working together to find different sources of Brain Breaks and they share what they have found with each other. This helps to have lots of choices to keep the students engaged.

How did you accomplish your goals?

We did some of the Brain Breaks in p.e. class and explained what they were. The students enjoyed them and started asking the teachers for them.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

It is very difficult to get some teachers to see that if you give up 3 minutes to do a Brain Break, it will really help you gain time and focus later.
