At our school we start our day with the announcements from our principal over the loud speaker, the pledge to the nation's flag and the SD flag, and then we do Jammin Minute every day all together. Many of the teachers also build brain breaks into the day. Each week on Friday afternoon the school nurse teaches all of the 4th grade students a health lesson. Before the lesson we get up and move to get all of the wiggles out. Getting the wiggles out helps to get all 190 students to be able to be in the same room and learn.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The students love jammin minute. A student leads the classroom doing exercises that are designated. The teachers encourage the students to be excited about it and participate. Some are better at it than others.

How did you accomplish your goals?

We accomplished this goal through the support of our principal. Without her buy-in we would not have gotten it started.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

When we take brain breaks the students are more focused and are able to sit through a lesson.
