Breakfast and Beyond

This is our first year to really go all in with Fuel Up To Play 60! My team is super excited to begin making a difference on our campus. They are encouraging everyone to eat breakfast, bring healthy snacks, drink more water and exercise every day. I can’t wait to see our school grow healthier every day!

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

I think my biggest challenge has been me! I’ve been leery of joining because I was afraid I wouldn’t have time or wouldn’t do a good job. This year I decided I would make it a priority. It is definitely a work in progress, but we are off to a great start! Now my biggest challenge is channeling the kids' excitement…not too bad!

How did students and adults work together as a team?

My team has been working on completing surveys and setting our goals. The students are super excited to start encouraging healthy habits throughout our school. They have also been working with our PTO to help create, advertise and run some healthy events. We have already held our “Glow Run” and we have a “Color Run” coming up soon! They were able to encourage their peers to come out and exercise and everyone had a great time!

What improvements have you seen at your school?

We have seen a few improvements so far this year: • More students are eating breakfast with Breakfast in the Classroom. • Students are bringing healthy snacks from home for snack time. • We see more students drinking water.
