Students have the opportunity to have breakfast in the cafeteria or on the go with Grab and Go breakfast. We have seen an increase in breakfast consumption due to the implementation of the grab and go option. Along with increased breakfast consumption student attendance has improved as well as academic performance and class engagement. Students prefer the Grab and Go options over the tray breakfast and we have seen students eat the fruit and other healthy options that come in the bag vs when the same fruit or milk drink was presented for choice in the traditional cafeteria tray line. We look forward to the implementation of the breakfast cart, which will only allow more students to be served the Grab and Go option. This will increase consumption of healthy breakfast food items.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
Efficiency of Grab and Go breakfast bags; implementation of breakfast cart will expedite process as well as all for more students to choose the Grab and Go option.
How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?
Implementation of the breakfast cart and working with the district nutrition department and campus leaders to ensure there is proper personnel to effectively run the cart and maximize breakfast bag distribution.
