Breakfast For Everyone — First Meal Matters
Access to Healthy Foods
Breakfast Club A+
Students are invited to attend the Breakfast Club to enjoy a healthy breakfast and then work on school work both paper and computer based. The idea is that breakfast is the most important meal for children to get their day started off right, The addition of extra time to reach success on school work leads to improved grades. Many students now want to join, as they see their peers getting good grades and jumping ahead on Math Prodigy and I-Ready. It has made a huge difference in the self esteem of many of the students attending. Breakfast truly does matter and can be the determining factor in a good day in the life of a student.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We worked as a TEAM to write up the Fuel Up to Play 60 grant, We hope to get funding to add more teachers. We also are recruiting students to tutor and parents to help with the necessary data we are looking to keep for the year.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Students that attend Breakfast Club are demonstrating more self esteem. They are happy to now come to school and have learned how important it is to start their day off with a healthy balanced breakfast, The students are also improving their grades. We are looking to see the data over time with this program.
