McKinley has implemented a "Grab and Go" breakfast system for three years now. This has decreased tardiness and increased breakfast participation. We will continue to do "Grab and G" the remainder of this year as well as add taste testings, such as smoothies, oats, etc.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

We have seen a decrease in tardiness!

How did you accomplish your goals?

As a team, including the School Health Committee, cafeteria staff, teacher, and students, we have been able to make breakfast more successful. Every student is now offered a breakfast. Even students that do arrive late are given a chance to eat breakfast in the classroom .

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

One big challenge we had to overcome was getting the teachers being on board with Grab and Go breakfast. Meetings were held to discuss the importance of every student being offered breakfast and how that effects their learning throughout the day.
