Access to Healthy Foods
Students at Guerra Elementary are encouraged to eat the breakfast served in school every morning. Students eat breakfast in the classrooms on a daily basis and they know the importance of a good breakfast in the morning. Presenters from the A and M Agriculture Department have been coming to present the importance of eating the right foods and staying active to the students Pre Kinder thru 5th grade. Presenters will be vising our campus for five weeks. Students are stay active by participating in games and activities with the A and M presenters.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Collaborative student work is done on Wednesdays. Students with diverse learning styles are placed in groups to discuss and answer questions.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

The information taught by the A and M Agriculture Department is information the students can share with the families.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

The school has promoted clubs for students to join. We have two clubs the students can join to promote healthy habits. At the Marathon Club, students stay after school and log in their miles they run form 3:45-4:30pm. The students may also join a garden club. Students take ownership. They plant and maintain their garden. At harvest time, students share their crops to eat healthy home grown salads.
