Breakfast of Champions with a Rockstar Workout

This year's collaboration with our Health/Parent Ed committee and student health team planned a morning workout on a Saturday, inviting our families to come work out with Rock Star Fitness. They led our parents and students through a morning workout. Our school served yogurt parfaits to promote dairy and show parents a healthy breakfast option. Flyers were handed out with healthy breakfast options and gave out milk mustaches to promote dairy. This was a ROCKSTAR day at McLaughlin/Strickland Intermediate and we left our parents asking for more days like this one!

What improvements have you seen at your school?

My students are sharing their healthy breakfast meals. They are excited and tell me how they made it all by themselves. Educating our parents and students on healthy eating has been a great tool that will help them stay healthy!

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We are planning to have more health days throughout the school year. Our parents loved the workout that was offered and have asked for more. This is also a great way to bring in our community and promote fitness as a FAMILY activity.

How did you accomplish your goals?

I think it was evident by seeing how many people showed up for the workout! It was a great turnout and the parents loved receiving tools to help them have more options for breakfast.
