Janet Bremer from Bremer Farms came and shared her story with students at Maplewood Middle School. Janet began by sharing how her husband's day begins at 6am and ends at 8pm, how her children help and have crucial jobs to keep the farm running, and how she enjoys to drive the combine at harvest time. She shared a video of her cows being milked and told us about their personalities. Janet explained to the kids the importance of keeping the cows happy and healthy so the milk is always fresh and good for us to drink, and how milk gets from her farm to our supermarkets/schools in 48 hours. She brought samples of the food her farm grows to feed her cows and a huge baby bottle they use to feed the calves with. She of course shared the importance of milk and dairy products in our diets and the kids enjoyed all the milk they could drink while listening. The kids asked great questions and were very interested in learning and understanding a little bit about the life of a farmer. Thanks, Janet!!

How did students and adults work together as a team?

After working with me to promote the event, the girls contacted the art teacher for help with making posters and using art supplies, and they made a commercial to be shown in morning advisory with Ms. Z.
