At Brooks Center for STEM and the Arts Magnet Middle School, going back to grade-level teams this year means our students are physically in the same area of the building most of the day. We adapted our "breakfast after the bell" program by adding a 3rd station so each grade has their own station to get breakfast during the 10 minute break after first hour. Tall "standing tables" were also added near each station and more food choices are now available! Also, students are no longer allowed to bring food from home, eliminating a lot of junk food!

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

With this year adding more of a social aspect to BAB (breakfast after the bell), junk food (& trash) became a problem. Administration made a rule that students could not consume food from home during BAB. The 3 stations in each grade-level area allow teachers to be in close proximity to the "action" and allow more teacher-student interaction time.
