cart your way to success

Farristown Middle School is on the move. We have a Fuel Up to Play 60 cart and are proud of it. Carting our way to success is our goal. In this world, go big or go home. First you have to get their attention, and with our new cart that is not a problem. Teachers and students stop by to look and say moving on up. One teacher stated, "It looks like something you would see in Walt Disney World". The students say, "Wow, that's awesome."

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The students and staff worked hand and hand on every aspect of the project. We allowed the students to think and take charge. The ideas that these students can imagine are great. I think here at Farristown we have something that some schools do not, and that is respect for each other. Fun and laughter is what you hear on an regular basis. No little u or big I running around.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

I have the Fuel Up to Play 60 cart which allows me to easily move my food to any location in the school. The Fuel Up to Play 60 insulated coolers to carry our hot and cold item. Traveling in style. When we walk though the hall with our cart people notice it. Talking with our Food Director, to show him the gain in participation would be more than enough for him to continue with the breakfast any time anywhere program. Grab n Go.

How did you accomplish your goals?

Accomplishing our goals has been very easy. Farristown Middle School has a super principal Mrs Hunter that allows us to go out in to the school. She and I want the same thing and that is no child hungry. Test scores are up, kids focus more when they are full and not hungry. So with us both on the same page the kids have a win win situation.
