Our Fuel Up to Play 60 students have organized 2 monthly challenges for the CBPA Adventures Plus (before and after school) program. The first challenge was for each of the students in the group to run at least 20 laps of the gym during the month. They tracked progress and encouraged their friends to accomplish the task. Then the next month, they challenged their peers to another exercise goal - push ups, sit ups, lunges, jumping jacks were to be done throughout the time in our program, helping each student to understand the importance of daily exercise in a healthy lifestyle.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

This started the process of a monthly exercise goal for the kids at A Plus.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

Getting participation from all the students in the program. But the FUTP 60 students put some incentives in place (like a healthy smoothie party if we all accomplish the task).

How did you accomplish your goals?

The FUTP 60 students understood the need for the program and modeled it for the students by leading the way with the exercise programs. They kept encouraging their peers to work at the goals, made progress announcements and thought up the incentive programs too.
