Celebrating Fruit Week
During the week of Jan. 29 to Feb. 02, 2018 during lunch, students will be eating a different fruit per day. Each day they will be assigned to wear anything that will represents the fruit for that day. Ex: Monday = purple/ grapes Tuesday= yellow / bananas Wednesday=red / apples Thursday= orange / oranges Friday= red / strawberries

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Parents will have to provide the fruit and eat one during dinner with their children. Students are to wear the color of the fruit for the day and research / explain why fruits are healthy.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

One major challenge I had was that not enough students were bringing their fruit to school because their parents didn’t have money or time to go to the store. So I overcame this issue by getting together with the cafeteria manager to collaborate with the fruit schedule of the week. With this in mind, the fruits were available to the students and all they needed to bring an item with the color of the day.

How did you accomplish your goals?

I accomplished my goal by motivating students every day and provided a point system award to individuals that participated in this event. Our point award provides a medal and trophy at the end of the year for most individual points.
