Access to Healthy Foods

Our wellness team raised money to buy decorations for a restaurant style atmosphere. We turn down lights and played relaxing music so kids could concentrate on eating all of their healthy lunch. The kids had a great time and the cafeteria looked really nice.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The cafeteria manager help coordinate the day for the celebration. Our wellness students helped decorate and serve some items during the lunch hour. They were very enthusiastic about setting up and cleaning after everyone. They were very proud and worked well with the adults who are assisting them with serving.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We made sure we bought reusable decorations so we can promote healthy eating once every quarter in our school. It's a celebration of healthy food and wellness kids will be involved each time with decorating and encouraging good healthy choices.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

Our biggest challenge was finding adult volunteers to help sew the runners in our school colors. We had one commit early on and then two weeks before we needed it done she said she couldn't do it. We feel lucky we found another volunteer who felt it was important to help the school.
