We had a fresh fruit and Smoothie Day. During our quarterly health lesson in PE we had fresh fruit and smoothies. We got to go to the sports lab at the Chiefs for all 3rd-6th graders too. That was great. We toured the stadium, looked at the looker room and viewed the field. It was interesting seeing all the Hall of Fame items. Now we get to have our FUTP 60 committee go to the stadium for a celebration of getting a Touchdown this year. All we need is a student Ambassador and we are set.

How did you accomplish your goals?

We started with a informational program to let the students know about FUTP 60. We made a Pledge wall to sign up to exercise daily. 60 minutes every day. In PE we had some Plays for Farm to School, classroom breaks, and fresh fruit day. We formed a committee with 3 4th graders, 3 5th graders, and 3 6th graders. We planned activities to help us remember to eat healthy and exercise daily. We went to the Chiefs Sports Lab to enjoy the exercise and information they shared with us.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

Many students families don't speak English so we have had trouble getting the forms filled out to go on our trips. We need available Spanish, and other language forms. Our MAP test is important but it keeps us from going places late in the year.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Students talk about eating healthier and exercising more. When they see someone sitting down they encourage them more to participate. The posters and things on the gym walls keep us on track too. I wish there was a training camp for kids at the first of the year.
