Central Montcalm Upper Elementary School Fuel Up To Play 60 Team Can’t be Beat!

The Central Montcalm Upper Elementary School FUTP 60 Team kicked off the school year theme of Healthy Eating Everywhere in School by participating in the Michigan Apple Crunch and catching the moment in an aerial photo. The team then charged down the field by completing the School Wellness Investigation and identifying 2 Plays that will help them achieve their goals. The students planned, promoted and hosted a Family Nutrition Night and will repeat the event for the lower grades in the spring.

How did you accomplish your goals?

The FUTP 60 team meets after school to work on their Plays. The students created a video using the FUTP 60 photo booth props to promote the Family Nutrition Night. They decorated the school with posters promoting healthy eating, physical activity and the Nutrition Night. The students worked at the 10 Nutrition Night stations. They helped students and families explore the FUTP 60 webpage, sign the FUTP 60 pledge, count “Disco Laps” and make easy, healthy breakfast foods. This team is unstoppable!

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Teachers worked side by side with the students on Nutrition Night and scheduled the time, photographer and location for the Apple Crunch. The teachers and food service staff are very supportive of the FUTP 60 goals. The Program Advisors arrange a physical activity and healthy snack at the FUTP 60 meetings, provide guidance and support the students in their efforts. Students and adults working together is what makes the Central Montcalm Hornets a team that can't be beat.
