Charlotte Middle School Grab & Go Breakfast

Deb Dillon,   Charlotte Middle School
Access to Healthy Foods

The Grab & Go Breakfast option gave students the opportunity to participate in the breakfast program on their way to class. A breakfast station was set up in the hallway, along with the Fuel Up to Play 60 Pledge banner and students signed the pledge banner committing to "fuel up on healthy foods" and "play 60 minutes each day." This Play will help increase the breakfast participation at the school as middle school students like to be social in the morning and have a grab & go option. Prior to the Kickoff day of the grab & go breakfast and throughout the week, morning announcements were done by the Fuel Up to Play 60 student team stating the importance of breakfast and encouraging the student body to participate. The kickoff for the grab & go breakfast coincided with M-Step assessments allowing students to make the connection between fueling their bodies to fuel their minds.
