The Greenville Middle School FUTP 60 team had an event at our school to influence healthy eating and decision making. We also supported the Wisconsin Dairy Farms. The event was a cheese curd tasting event. We showed great teamwork and the kids loved it. We got the cheese curds from a local dairy and small business in Depere, Wisconsin called Scray Cheese. I think this will help our school make better food choices.
How did students and adults work together as a team?
Students and adults worked together to plan, schedule and coordinate the cheese tasting event. Students on the team were the leaders who developed a plan, communicated with the school lunch room staff, and contacted local dairy industries. Mrs. Hoffman guided the students in making this event succeed.
How did you accomplish your goals?
Teamwork helped our FUTP 60 team accomplish our goal of having a cheese tasting event during our lunch hours. Students developed committees and worked collaboratively to accomplish our goal.
What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
Our school has a large population of 5th through 8th grade students. To make sure all students received a sample of cheese curds, we had to assign team member to work different lunch hours. We also faced the challenge of purchasing cheese curds. To save money, we asked for donations and discounts from different business. Scary Cheese offered us a 50 percent discount!!!
